Choosing Recycled Office Fabrics is a No Brainer

One of the challenges companies face when deciding whether or not to use recycled products is that they can cost more than the traditional version. Now, thanks to True Textiles, cost can be eliminated from the equation – making the decision to purchase recycled fabrics a no brainer. True Textiles is the world’s leading panel fabric producer. The company also manufactures fabric for seat coverings, wall coverings, and cubicle/privacy curtains. True Textiles is a leader in the sustainability movement.

It started for us when Ray Anderson – chairman of Interface, our former parent company – had his now-famous epiphany some 14 years ago. With his environmental consciousness suddenly raised, he was deeply troubled by the harm that industry was wreaking on the earth, and equally determined to turn that situation around as far as this company goes.

Today, every product that True makes and service
that we deliver is being conscientiously engineered to lighten our footprint. Sustainability is a journey; we’re not all the way there yet but we are taking great care to make sure every step is in the right direction. And we won’t be content to lollygag. In fact we are firmly committed to completely eliminating any negative impact that True may have on the environment.

According to Amy Robertson, the director of marketing and sustainability for True Textiles, there is no price difference between their recycled fabric and the virgin variation that the company produces. Robertson says there is also no difference in the look and feel of the recycled fabric. This means companies that want to use green products are now able to buy fabrics made from 100% recycled materials.

True Textiles is also the first North American commercial textile producer to awarded the CarbonNuetral® electricity certification. This was achieved by the reduction of the carbon emissions produced by the electricity used in production of Terratex products to zero. The Green Products Company carries a range of over 35 of True Textiles Green Fabrics, from plain to patterned and suede to polyester.
