Description:
OSI® GreenSeries™ Sub-Floor & Deck Adhesive is a high performance, non-flammable,
environmentally friendly construction adhesive developed for Glued Floor Systems and other general
construction needs, interior or exterior. This product’s unique formulation offers Green Builders a high
performance, low gassing, latex based construction adhesive without sacrificing strength and
performance. Engineered for use with most building materials, this adhesive offers fast strength
development with excellent gap filling abilities that aids in distributing stress over the entire work area.
OSI® GreenSeries™ Sub-Floor & Deck Adhesive reduces nail schedules and allows for extended joist
spans and the use of lower stress grade lumber where local building codes allow.
Recommended Uses:
Primarily used for glued floor projects involving sub-floor, tongue-and-groove flooring and
deck construction.
Works well for general construction needs such as installing all types of paneling (wood or
pre-decorated), polystyrene and polyurethane foam panels, trim moldings and various wall
tiles.
Offers excellent adhesion to all types of wood and wood products, engineered lumber, OSB,
plywood, ceramic tiles, fiberglass and most other common building materials.
Ideal for use in recreational and prefab manufacturing.
Not Recommended For:
Underwater applications or permanent water immersion
Applications requiring temperature resistance greater than 71°C (160°F)
Exterior applications where rain is expected within 24 hours
Use on mirrors and metals that will corrode
Bonding two non-porous surfaces
Polyethylene, polypropylene, Nylon™ or Teflon™
Cement Board (Durock™)
Coverage:
For a 28 fl. oz. (825 mL) cartridge:
A ¼” (6 mm) bead extrudes approximately 86 ft. (26 m).
A 3/8” (9.5 mm) bead extrudes approximately 38 ft. (12 m).
Directions:
Tools Typically Required:
Utility knife, caulking gun and tool to puncture inner seal of cartridge.
Safety Precautions:
Wear gloves.
Preparation:
The temperature of the adhesive, the surfaces and the working area must be above 40°F (4°C) and below 100°F (38°C). For best performance,
apply adhesive at 70°F (21°C). Ensure surfaces to be bonded are clean, dry, structurally sound and free of dust, grease, oil, snow, ice, standing
water or other contaminants. To increase adhesion, sand glossy surfaces to a dull finish. Pre-fit all materials prior to applying product. Cut off
tip of cartridge at a 45° angle to desired bead size. Puncture inside seal of cartridge.
Application:
General Construction Use:
Using a caulking gun, apply adhesive to one of the surfaces to be bonded. Press materials firmly together. Repositioning time is approximately
15 minutes. If work is delayed, remove excess adhesive and reapply.
Sub-Floor and Decking Installation:
Apply continuous beads (1/4” to 3/8”) of adhesive to all floor joists. For tongue-and-groove panels, apply ¼” (6 mm) beads to groove avoiding
excess “squeeze out.” Position panels allowing a 3 mm (1/8”) gap for expansion at butt joints. Nail within 15 minutes after adhesive application.
Use proper nailing schedule as designated by APA Adhesive Nail-On Schedule.
Paneling and Foamboard Installation:
Apply continuous beads of adhesive to studs or furring strips (wood or metal). For wall surfaces, prepare surface accordingly and apply
continuous parallel beads 12” (30 cm) to 16” (40 cm) on-center. Position panel and press firmly into place. Use finishing nails or mechanical
fasteners along top and bottom edges to hold panels in place. Temporary blocking of panels may be required until adhesive sets.
Clean-up:
Clean tools and uncured adhesive residue immediately with warm water and soap. Cured adhesive may be carefully cut away with a sharpedged
tool.
